Mom's Morning Workout Program

As seen on AZ 3TV: August, 2008: “This is not just sitting around drinking coffee,” said Valley mom Megan Keller. “We are working and often crying and begging to stop, but it's a wonderful test of fitness each day.” Keller is one of several women kicking off their day with a moms' morning workout program. It's put on by Ironbody Lifestyle Fitness. “When you have a team of professionals such as the Ironbody team, you can elevate your fitness to a level that they set for you, for whatever your desires are,” Keller said. “And once you get to that level, I find it to be fitness freedom.”

 

Ironbody Lifestyle Fitness Co-Founder Robert Vera said before any mom starts the program, a complete fitness evaluation is given. This includes using heart rate monitors while training, a body scanner to check your weight to body fat, and finding out what your potential hydrogen or pH is. “This is a pH strip; it's a very simple strip,” Vera said. “You just lick it. It works with saliva and you can tell based on the color. If you’re low in the color, you'll see yellow or green. If high, it turns blue. The ideal for the human body is 7.4.“The color will indicate or tell you if you’re acidic or alkaline,” Vera continued. “Ideally, you would like to be slightly alkaline. In an acidic environment, especially in women, it can lead to the different conditions like osteopedia or osteoporosis. That's the leeching of calcium from bone materials, which makes less dense bones.”

 

Vera believes using tools like a pH test will only make someone be that much more successful when it comes to getting healthy. In Keller’s case, her pH was a little low so Vera recommended she eat more fruits and veggies and drink more water. “The Ironbody system outlines the caloric intake you need for the day,” Keller said. “And you can then choose how you want to spend those calories. My point is you’re not restricted.” While the moms like not being restricted when it comes to eating, they especially like the fact that no two workouts are ever the same.

 

“The great thing about the morning workouts is you don't have any idea about what you’re going to be doing next,” Keller said. So, is all their hard work paying off? “On average, these women have been losing 1 to 2 percent body fat and 10 pounds per month,“ Vera said
